HardlineMX | Ironman MX

Ironman 2023 is a first for us at HardlineMX, for the first time ever, both Casey Hultgren and myself Matt Wellumson are credentialed to cover a round of Pro Motocross. We cannot thank MX Sports enough for the opportunity and hope to continue growing with this amazing motorsport!

For Friday August 25, Casey and I attended a special pre-race press conference where top riders and top teams attended a press conference to discuss the season and upcoming SMX chamnpionship.

Discussions within the press conference mostly focused on the upcoming Super Motocross season, with added salt of discussing individual achievements in the careers of the 250cc riders that are staged to graduate to 450 class in the next season.

We took to the mic to ask Jo Shimoda how it has felt being part of the international stage here in the US. We asked if he feels like he is here to represent his country ini this international stage, and if he enjoys the fanfare that is popping up for this great young Japanese rider. He responded that he doesn’t feel like an ambassador, but does enjoy the fanfare that has popped up for him, including unique ways to celebrate his nickname “Sushi”

What was interesting to hear from a few of the top riders, was how they commented on how long the season has become when you factor in the link between Outdoors and Supercross. Now with the final championship rounds that push us into fall, it will be curious to see how that factors into how much people put on the line for the final season payout.

Closing out, the media had an opportunity to talk to HRC team manager Lars Lindstrom regarding what could be a historic and first ever full sweep of manufacturers titles.
